Even the name, Stara šola Korte, which means Old School Korte, tells a lot about the significant role this house had in the past. It's a protected monument, since this was thefirst Slovenian school in the region.
A typical courtyard, where the locals used to gather at social events, offers a picturesque view of the surrounding villages and hamlets. You will see an old olive tree in its centre – a feature of Slovenian Istria.
Later on, the school became a student dormitory. In 2016, all the rooms where renovated and the place was turned into a peaceful retreat for travellers, cyclists, families, and other groups.
Take the Izola exit on the highway, and at the first roundabout, follow the signs for Korte. Along the entire way, there are signs for village Korte; follow this signs. The road will lead you uphill, and on the top, you will see signs for Stara šola Korte. After you enter village Korte, there is some more to drive before you come to a crossroad where, you will see sign to turn left for Stara šola Korte. Turn left and stay on the main road. You will see building and sign on the right.
Izola has great bus connections to many Slovenian towns. A local bus drives from Izola bus station to Korte. The Korte bus station is only 30 meters from the guesthouse Stara šola Korte.
